Indoor Air Quality Project Scientist Successfully Completes Combustion Safety Testing

La Crosse, WI – April 23, 2007 – Michaels Engineering's IAQ Project Scientist, Cassidy L. Kuchenbecker, completed the Combustion Safety Testing offered by the Energy Center of Wisconsin on April 11, 2007, in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

The Combustion Safety Testing was designed to further knowledge and expertise in performing worst-case draft and carbon monoxide (CO) testing.  This one-day training provides individuals with the tools to:

  • Understand how house pressures affect proper exhaust gas venting of atmospheric combustion appliances.

  • Recommend appropriate remedial actions to improve venting of exhaust gases and reduce production of CO in questionable appliances. (Repair vs. Replacement)

  • Understand principles of venting system configuration and sizing to match Btu output of combustion appliances.

  • Recognize how burner adjustments, fuel/air mixture, and gas pressure contribute to combustion efficiency and to CO production.

  • Demonstrate worst-case draft and CO safety testing using the latest diagnostic procedures.

  • Interpret the meaning of safety testing results.

  • Determine if combustion appliances are operating safely.

Michaels would like to congratulate Cassidy on his successful completion of this training.  For more information about this training, or other training opportunities provided by the Energy Center of Wisconsin, please contact Cassidy Kuchenbecker at CLK@MichaelsEngineering.com or visit http://www.ecw.org/.
