Retrocommissioning

Concerned about energy costs? - temperature and humidity problems in your facility? - air quality problems? - but you have no equipment replacement or upgrade needs or remodeling projects in the foreseeable future? Retrocommissioning is probably just what you need.

Retrocommissioning refers to commissioning facilities that were never commissioned or commissioned years ago. Almost every building delivered to the owner has some malfunctioning equipment, controls, and systems from day one. During the warranty period, many of these problems are solved but many are not solved, especially problems that impact energy consumption. The building works "good enough".

Problem examples: fans running backward, temperature control sequences resulting in simultaneous heating and cooling, variable frequency drives not controlled to minimize energy use, "free-cooling" cycles not working.

Retrocommissioning includes a comprehensive inspection and plan of action to fix these problems. Annual energy savings are typically greater than the cost of the service. I.e. within a year, the service cost is paid for, you keep the savings going forward, and have a more comfortable, lower maintenance building that improves productivity.
